Sisters
Lorie and Lisa first collaborated in 1998 with “Sisters in Sight
and Sound”. Lorie’s watercolor paintings were complimented by
Lisa’s original piano compositions. Visitors were directed thru
the gallery while listening to an audio cassette recording thus
experiencing the sights and sounds of the exhibition.
Sisters in Sight and Sound II
uses the latest technology to present the paintings and music in
a whole new way. In today’s fast-paced, high tech world it
is becoming increasingly more difficult to capture people’s
attention. Research shows that museum goers spend between
11 and 30 seconds looking at a piece of art. People today are
accustomed to highly produced experiences that direct their
attention to the important information. As artists, this
is a discouraging trend. However, utilizing this knowledge can
lead to a way to work with this cultural shift.
Sisters
in Sight and Sound II
allows the viewer to experience the exhibition thru a series of
short video presentations. Each original musical composition is
partnered with an original painting. Both the paintings and
music were created specifically for this exhibition. Some of the
paintings will be created first and then music composed to
reflect the mood of the painting. Other paintings will be
created in response to original music composed for the
exhibition.
